Have there always been Florida homes for sale? Well, in the case of Longboat key Sarasota Homes were built on the North end of Longboat key in the early 1900's. Originally occupied by Timucan and Caloosa native Americans, the first outsider to visit was Hernando DeSoto who is thought to have visited the area with Juan Anasco manning the "longboat" through the north pass in 1539.
